Fertilising.... We use a complete range of top class, tested products that are suited to your lawn. Usually we use a slow release, no scorch product that has been developed for use of golf course greens. These products are best applied every 8 – 10 weeks from early spring through to the autumn. As an “eco aware” company we also offer an organic equivalent which we have trialled. We are very pleased with the results we are obtaining, and lawns that have been treated with the ‘organic option’, are showing a marked increase in bioactivity and are reaching a level where both thatch and disease build up is greatly reduced.
We purchase all our fertilisers in bulk by the tonne, ensuring that we can supply and apply the best quality fertilisers onto your lawn, almost certainly cheaper than you can buy a fertiliser of poorer quality from your local garden centre.
Weed Control... Unfortunately the only alternative to chemicals is to dig out all weeds by hand! . But we have a wide range of products that can be used to control just about any weeds that may be found. Why do we stock a wide range of products? Simply that more often than not, a milder more eco friendly product will do the job, and that is better for you and the environment.
Disease &Insect control... With the climate changing there are various diseases and insects that can cause damage to your lawn. We have many years experience in all aspects of lawncare and can usually see any problems developing at a very early stage, which makes it much easier and more effective to apply control measures.
Aeration... Everyone knows that grass needs water and feed to grow well, but it also needs oxygen to the roots! It gets this by growing in the space between the soil particles. So when the soil is compacted it will need aerating. Compaction can occur from simply walking, playing on your lawn, to when trees are rocked by the wind. Some soils are more prone to compaction that others, so ‘heavier’ clay soils will usually need treating more often than the ‘lighter’ sandy soils. We have both solid and hollow ting machines, and also a machine that will relieve compaction down to a metre deep. This has not only helped with compaction, but also with the drainage of the lawn as well. So if you have compacted and poorly drained lawns, we may well have the answer!
Scarifying... Thatch builds up in most lawns over a period of time. What is thatch? Well it is dead grass that just lies on top of the soil and just beneath the green grass that you can see. The build up can harbour diseases, effect drainage, takes nutrients away from the healthy grass to try to decompose it, and needs ‘raking’ out. On small areas it is possible to hand rake this unwanted material, but in medium and larger lawns you will need to mechanically scarify. Also after moss is treated it should be removed and this is done by scarifying the area(s).
Mowing... We have many types of mower available including cylinder mowers, rotary mowers and even a battery electric, eco friendly 4ft 6 ins ride on! We can undertake mowing of all types of grass on all sizes. We can give a lawn that nice traditional striping effect, trim nice neat edges and ‘strim’ rough areas.
Seeding... We work with the latest grass varieties that are available, to suit almost any situation. We have seed mixtures that thrive in dry / wet conditions, in heavy shade, that grow slower than normal, that respond to heavy feeding , that do not require very fertile conditions. We can re-sow a complete area, patch an area or even overseed a lawn to increase the plant density or to change the types of grass.
Turfing... We recommend the use of sovereign turf. We have tried turf grown by many different growers over the years, but have found that Soveriegn to give a consistently high quality at very reasonable prices. As we purchase regularly from Sovereign we can supply the right type of turf to suit your requirements at a very reasonable cost! www.sovereignturf.co.uk check them out.
LevellingYes we can level just about any lawn, given time.
